Non - Diamond Engagement Rings

People might say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but that’s not to say they should be the only stone to consider when it comes to popping the question.

If you need an engagement ring without diamonds, no problem! I can accommodate your request. Non-diamond engagement rings are becoming more common in 2020.

There’s a wide range of reasons why some women don’t want diamond engagement rings, from ethics to aesthetics, so it’s important to get clear on why she doesn’t want a diamond before selecting an alternative.

Most women want something really unique that no one else has, and a handcrafted made-to-order engagement ring without diamonds is the quickest way to ensure that.

For some women, it’s important to stay true to their own personal style, and diamonds are just not part of their look.

Notice how a lot of women with a really strong personal style have unconventional engagement rings.

Then there are women who take pleasure in bucking tradition; they want a non-diamond ring because they’re non-traditional in other aspects of their life, so why would this be any different?

Some women opt out of diamonds because they want an environmentally friendly engagement ring, and want to forgo anything that was mined from the earth.

No matter the reason, if she’s only interested in engagement rings without diamonds, then here are my top three non-diamond alternatives.

SAPPHIRE

Sapphires are the #1 most popular choice for non-diamond engagement rings. Blue sapphire engagement rings have long been a classic choice for a number of my clients, worn by both Princess Diana and Kate Middleton. For women who love traditional but don’t want a diamond, blue sapphire is a safe bet.

As one of the toughest stones on the market, it’s a great choice for everyday wear. If you want a twist on a classic, go for a sapphire engagement ring in a different color: they come in orange, pink, white, yellow, green, and black. I can source them all!

There’s nothing more unexpected than a sapphire engagement ring that isn’t blue, great for a bride who wants an unconventional engagement ring.

MORGANITE

Morganite engagement rings have become one of the hottest diamond alternatives on the market in 2020 because they’re durable enough for everyday long term wear, and they come in gorgeous hues ranging from peachy pink to purple-tinged tones.

There are sweetness and femininity to pink engagement rings, and their light color makes them the rare non-diamond ring that doesn’t seem totally untraditional.

ALEXANDRITE

Alexandrite is a beautiful option for a diamond-free engagement ring. Known as a chameleon stone, alexandrites change color and can appear bluish-green to reddish-purple depending on the light.

Alexandrite engagement rings are a practical choice because, at 8.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness, they’re tough enough for everyday wear. They’re also one of the rarest gemstones in the world, a perfect choice for the type of woman who wants an unconventional engagement ring that (almost) no one else has.
